Idaho and Nebraska are also among the states that offer a few in-house games. Additionally, the three states that do not offer a state-wide game each have some instant win options.
Massachusetts is currently in the process of legalizing an online lottery. It is not clear when this will happen. When it does, the state could increase its revenue for educational programs.
One of the newest lotteries to come online is the District of Columbia. Washington DC launched iLottery in February 2021. IWG, a company that provides instant games, is the game provider for the DC Lottery. It has recently released Doublin’ Doubloons and Prospector’s Jackpots.
North Carolina has the most diverse selection of lotteries, with four in-house games, four multi-state games, and three state-only draw games. Each of these games has its own unique payout. Ticket prices range from $1 to $20. Most of the money collected on the tickets goes to the Common School Fund and other public programs.
New Jersey is one of the first states to launch an online lottery. Its website features nine draw games. As of May 2018, the lottery has paid out more than $42 billion in prizes. It also has contributed to more than $28 billion in the state’s education and pension systems.
